Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Jot ("the app", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information. Jot is operated by an individual developer, Xiuxuan Wang. If you have any questions, contact us at wxxedu@gmail.com.
By creating an account or using Jot, you agree to the collection and use of information described here.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and name from that provider to create and identify your account.
- Voice recordings. Audio you record in the app is uploaded to private object storage (Tencent Cloud COS) and accessed only through short-lived, signed URLs.
- Transcripts. Your audio is sent to a third-party speech-to-text provider (StepFun) to produce a text transcript.
- Your content. Journal entries, ledger and financial notes, and related metrics that you create in the app.
- AI processing. Your captured content may be processed by large language models so the app can produce structured results (for example, parsing a note into entries).
- Diagnostics. Crash and error reports (via Sentry) and first-party, in-region usage analytics. Performance telemetry (via Langfuse) is redacted and content-free.
- Billing. If you subscribe, purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive purchase receipts to verify your subscription; we never see your card details.
2. How we use your information
We use your information only to provide and operate the app: to authenticate you, store and display your notes, transcribe and parse your captures, process subscriptions, fix bugs, and keep the service running. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.
3. Third parties
We share data only with service providers needed to run the app: Tencent Cloud COS (storage), StepFun (transcription), Google and Apple (sign-in and billing), Sentry (error reporting), and Langfuse (redacted telemetry). Each processes data only on our behalf.
4. Where your data is stored
For users on the international service, data is stored on servers located in Singapore.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and associated content at any time by emailing wxxedu@gmail.com; we will delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email wxxedu@gmail.com.
7. Cookies and local storage
The app stores authentication tokens on your device to keep you signed in. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
8. Children
Jot is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
